Hi
I have long said that Fat Admiration and the fetishes that go along with it are the worse thing ever to happen to Fat/Size Acceptance. What other grassroots support communities have a sibling community of Admirers with Fetishes?
Over at the Bastion of Fat Admiration "Dimensions Magazine" the topic of Fat Acceptance vs Fat Admiration has again come up. Even more so than in Fat Acceptance the participation of Fat Admirers has helped create a culture where all Fat Issues and Experiences not connected with Fat Women are subject to Quantifying and Speculation because they do not concern the Fetish target "Fat Women".
Since being banned from Dimensions I do miss the Fat Men Section there, but I find myself happier to be 100% free of warped brand of Fat Acceptance in use elsewhere on Dimensions. Despite the fetish activity on Dimensions there are some great people there and here is the link to the thread:

In the end I think that the show "More to Love" will be a lot more damaging to Fat Men than Fat Women.
Scanning the Fat-o-sphere I am already seeing the comments pile up about how much easier the lives of Fat Men are than Fat Men. Fat Men have never has much of a presence in Fat Acceptance and here comes another topic full of comments to turn them off from Fat Acceptance.

Recently on BFB this post as tagged under Fat and Men
http://www.bigfatblog.com/ye-olde-double-standard
I never have any idea why posts like these in Fat Acceptance are thought to be about fat men? As a Fat Man I can tell you that the experiences of Leonardo DiCaprio have nothing to do with life as a fat man. Other than projecting a double standard of movie stars on to Fat Men (a negative input) there is nothing else in this post.

On the internet I have seen several comments about the Reality Show "More to Love". Many
comments that the Women (BBWs) seemed to be groveling for this one guy's attention. The
second comment that I have seen on the show is "why did the BBWs have to be matched to a
BHM". I have also read Women who have phrased this as "Why did they have to settle for a
BHM". While the BBWs who have made these comments will quickly respond that who they are
attracted to is simply a personal preference, the way that they framed their responces to
the choice of using a BHM as the Male is more a negative statement toward BHMs than a
positive statement that Fat People should have a varying range of romantic prospects in
size and many other variables.

In my history in the Fat-o-sphere I have managed to be banned from two Blogs\Forums.
The first was Big Fat Blog when it was under the ownership of Paul. My crime was questioning comments that were primarily made by fat women as the factual experiences of fat men. Seeing that in most of these debates Paul and myself were the only men in the conversation that most of their claims about fat men were invalid without more input from fat men. Paul at the time primarily the agreed with the women, but later in his "Reaching Out" post
he brought up many of my own points! Paul himself stated that he is on the smaller side of being fat, but I have seen few fat men agree with the usual statements that Fat Acceptance has had on the experiences of fat men.
The second time I have been banned from a blog\forum was this year on Dimensions\Magazine and this time it was fat women and their male fat admirer\fetishists that were describing the experiences of fat men, while any fat male trying to add disputing input was surrounded and attacked by superior numbers.
I am writing this because I just read a nice Blog Thread on The-F-Word.org. I like the support that I found in that thread (as well as many other threads) but I am always saddened by how long fat men have had to establish their correct history even in Fat Acceptance and not have the need of Fat Men of Fat Acceptance marginalized by others.

Seems that Doctors and Researchers are again attackingFat Acceptance. Some of them just seem not to be able to let FatAcceptance exist in any fashion.
Here is a Radio clip and article from a Public Radio Station in Philadelphia:
Fat Acceptance raises concerns among health care professionals
Theonly positive statements in the artice came from one professional whosaid that she does not use weight and numbers as a benchmark for herclients, the rest of the professionals were anti-fat.
What I do notunderstand is that professionals talk about the growing obesityepidemic, yet they attack people who are already fat, shouldn't they befocusing on people 180 lbs and under? I have been over 200 lbs sinceJunior High, being plus size is not a recent "epidemic" for me. Be sure to look at the comment section for thought from the fat-o-phobicpublic. All I can say is that if you are fat you should be some howsupporting Fat Acceptance.
Thanks to the Big Fat Deal Blog for finding this

Wiggles posted a very sane comment in this thread:
Hi Wiggles
I am not a moderator on FatSo, I do help moderate Sizewise. Despite what Kath has said I never once mention a word about what Fat Women do or do not experience, I know because I was careful not to. I think that those debates are useless.
I did comment on some of Kath's comments directed at Fat Men and disagreed with them. Between my own experiences and that of other Fat Men that I have listen to, I think that have better knowledge of Fat Males than Kath, yet she goes berserk because I have a opinion.
The only problem that I have with Feminism is the mindset that was created by feminist writers like Orbach and Chernin, who were proactive in rewriting Fat Acceptance to reject Fat Male Issues. Earlier Feminist Organizations like the Fat Underground were much more gender inclusive.
I think that Fat Acceptance may have gained a little fetish attitude from its BBW/Fat Admirer period toward Fat and Femininity because Society never extended Fat and Feminity to cover Fat Women.
Still I understand that Society is the source of the bias against Fat People.

This post below is the result of me telling one Woman that she was wrong in some of the assumptions that she was making on the lives of Fat Men. Sense she was speaking about the lives of Fat Men in the third person adding her own ideas as facts, as a Fat Man, I replied to her.
I do no know what it is about Fat Acceptance that makes some Fat Women feel they should have total ownership and control of the statements in Fat Acceptance even if it is about Fat Men.

Statements like hers makes Fat Acceptance look so like a Jerry Springer Episode

Fat Men in Fat Acceptance
A note on some comments made on the Fat Heffalump Blog:
http://fatheffalump.blogspot.com/2009/08/still-long-way-to-go.html
The owner describes her Blog as a place as
...................I am here to create a positive, empowering place for fatties and friends/family of fatties. I don't give a shit if something is not good fat politics. If it helps one fat heffalump like me hold his or her head high, walk with confidence and self esteem, to no longer feel alone and to get past the pain and self loathing, then that's what I'mhere for.............
Then in this article her main theme about Fat men was how Fat Men are allowed to be Fat and how much easier things are for Fat men. As a FatGuy in Fat Acceptance I always disagree with this approach to Fat Male Issues and it often gets me into trouble.I really do not believe that much of what Fat Acceptance has to say about Fat Men will be valid until more Fat Men enter the conversation, I am amazed how often things in Fat Acceptance about Fat Men are stated as a fact without any input from Fat Men.
I do think that if you are going to talk about another group of people in the third person you should expect comments and objections. She is lucky that there are not too many Fat Men around in Fat Acceptance and comments like her's do not help matters.
I feel that debates like her's are totally unproductive for Fat Acceptance, that is why I have no need to comment on the experiences of Fat Women beyond what all we Fat People experience, unless it is directly body/gender related.
I see that the owner deleted my last post directing people to this entery. I fear that there will never be any communication with Fat Women like Kath, who feel they are entitled to say anything about the lives of Fat Men.

From the start of my involvement with Fat Acceptance I have often visited Communities like Dimensions Magazine or the old NAAFA that was closely related to Dimensions. Asa Fat Guy I always felt that their Fat Acceptance was warped or skewed in regards to Fat and Gender.
When you look at the big picture there is a logical reason, Dimensions and the old NAAFA had foundations that were built with the liberal input from men who were extreme Fat Admirers and men with serious Fat Fetishes. These supporters who viewed Fat in a warped Fantasy world that includes a lot of manipulation of Fat Acceptance and Gender to fit their needs.
They intensified the Fat Acceptance focus on the bias experienced by Fat Women because it made their Fetish and/or Attraction to Fat Women seem noble. A result of this is that Fat Men for years found zero benefit from Fat Acceptance. Bias against Fat Men in Fat Acceptance drastically decrease once Organizations like NAAFA came more under the control of Fat People and the Blog-a-sphere created a medium for Freethinking Fat People to spread their ideas and ideology without the input of fetish ideology.
